Within the Development of Teaching Practice Award, you will undertake three examinations:
In this assessment unit, you’ll explore the development of teacher expertise. You will identify a specific aspect of your teaching that you would like to develop, reflecting upon and evaluating your current practice before engaging in cycles of deliberate practice to refine your approaches and hone your expertise in your chosen area. At the end of the unit, you will reflect on your experience and share effective practice, submitting a Developing Teaching Portfolio for formal assessment. This unit also includes free access to IRIS Connect software; a powerful professional development tool that enables you to record and reflect on your classroom practice.
Content:
This assessment unit uses a combination of guided online learning, independent self-directed study and sustained periods of classroom-based, deliberate practice.
There are around 3-4 hours of core learning content, in which you will:
- Explore research and evidence around the development of expertise
- Build your understanding of deliberate practice and how you can use this to refine and develop your teaching practice
- Consider approaches to teacher evaluation and access tools and resources that will support you in evaluating your own practice as part of the assessment.
