Welcome to our event Celebrating women in tutoring – International Women’s Day! Join us online as we honor and recognize the incredible contributions of women in the field of tutoring. This event is a tribute to all the hardworking women who have dedicated their time and expertise to helping others succeed.

In this online event we are celebrating International Women’s Day by connecting with women in tutoring to discuss their journeys, experiences and why they love tutoring.

Who will be on the panel?

Claire Torbett: Power Up Tuition
I am a qualified primary school teacher and experienced maths tutor from Years 3 to 11 with my business, Power Up Tuition. I started tutoring in 2022 and soon rediscovered my love of teaching which had been buried for a while. I teach entirely face to face in a variety of 1:1s, small groups and big groups and love hands-on practical learning. Tutoring brings me joy through the variety of my days, the communities I have joined and through making a difference to the students I work with!

Dee Atkins-Greig: M Cubed Tuition
My first love is the weather, my second love is teaching and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to combine the two.

Emma Harper: Core+ Tuition
Emma is the director of Core+ Tuition. Having tutored for 17 years and taught in schools for many years, she then began Core+ Tuition in 2020. Emma studied Maths at Exeter University followed by a PGCE at Oxford Brookes. As well as tutoring Emma enjoys music and spending time walking in the woods with her family.

Sarah Webb: Read to Grow Tuition
I am a qualified Primary School Teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and have completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination. I have also completed handwriting specialist training to enable me to support students with handwriting difficulties. I have 20 years experience in a range of primary settings and have been a Special Educational Needs Coordinator for 10 years.

Odette Wohlman: Qualified Tutor
Odette has extensive experience in building teams, business growth, operations, and project management. Odette possess a wealth of knowledge and skills that are valuable in various industries.

Odette’s ability to build scalable and global teams, as well as define processes and tools to improve operational excellence, demonstrates her strong leadership and problem-solving skills. These skills are essential in managing complex projects and achieving business goals.

Julia Silver: Qualified Tutor
Committed to raising standards in tutoring, Julia launched Qualified Tutor, a grassroots Professional Membership Organisation for tutors to support a largely unsupported community.
