Julia Silver, Founder & Ideas Specialist

My ‘why’ is to contribute to the change that needs to happen in education to make it more nuanced, sustainable and fit-for-purpose.

As a school leader, my passion is for shifting culture by developing the people around me.

I created Qualified Tutor, a much-loved community and training provider, and the Love Tutoring Online Community to provide confidence and connection for tutors. My book ‘Love Tutoring: Turn your Plan B into a Plan A’ is coming soon.

My husband Simon and I have the pleasure and privilege of raising five amazing children ranging in age from 6 to 16.

As a Mum myself, I saw the need that both parents and tutors have to stay connected and know there is a safe, skilled, and supported space for us all to support our children in their development.

Hannah join the Qualified Tutor team as an administrative assistant and tech supporter in the middle of 2022 after many years of knowing Julia.

She continues to support the team with new projects, being the go-between for the background technology that helps us to run effectively.

Our Story

Qualified Tutor was founded by Julia Silver in 2019 because as a headteacher and a mother, she was alarmed at the lack of transparency in the tutoring world.

Committed to leading change, nurturing wellbeing and enabling trust, Julia launched Qualified Tutor Training, the Love Tutoring Community and the Love Tutoring Festivals.

Over the past four years, Julia has been improving outcomes for students by developing the adults that work with them.
The QT Accredited Quality Mark is the Gold Standard for Independent Quality Assurance for Tutoring. Think of it as the Fair Trade of Tutoring.

Julia is currently working on her book, ‘Love Tutoring: Turn Your Plan B into a Plan A’ soon to be published by Crown House. She is also up to her eyeballs in the raising of five awesome humans ranging in age from 7-17.
