On 9 September 2025, tutors from across the UK came together for Inset for Tutors — a pioneering day of professional development designed by tutors, for tutors.
Tutoring has long lacked the collective spaces that schools and teachers take for granted. Inset for Tutors is changing that. It brings together practitioners who care deeply about their students and their craft, creating a shared space for growth, reflection, and collaboration.
The day was filled with high-impact sessions, each crafted to strengthen both professional confidence and everyday practice:
-
Safeguarding Update (9:30am) – ensuring tutors remain current and confident with essential safeguarding responsibilities.
-
Tutoring Skills (11:30am) – exploring practical pedagogy, fresh ideas, and proven strategies to elevate learning outcomes.
-
Supervision Circles (2:00pm) – offering time and space for reflection, peer support, and strengthening professional identity.
The feedback has been extraordinary:
“Julia’s session on knowledge, skills and beliefs in tutoring was outstanding.”
“So many pedagogical ideas shared with practical examples I can use straight away.”
“I’m now much more aware of my safeguarding responsibilities and feel more confident.”
Attendees left with renewed energy, inspired by new techniques and innovative tools — from using AI to reflect on lessons, to creating ‘spot the error’ activities, to fresh approaches for engaging students more deeply.
But beyond the strategies and resources, Inset for Tutors continues to deliver what matters most: connection, confidence, and the knowledge that you are part of a thriving professional community.
Save the Date
We are delighted to announce that the next Inset for Tutors will take place on 11 November 2025.
If you are a tutor who wants to strengthen your practice, connect with peers, and be part of shaping the future of our profession, this is your opportunity.
